THE
RIDDLE MASTER OF PUTZ
As you arrive on the island you are met by the riddle-master
of Putz who scowls at you and challenges you: “To
cross my island you must defeat my nine apprentices, each
more skilled than the previous one. If you succeed, not only
will you become a master yourself, but I will give you advice
and items which will help in adventures yet to come. Fail,
and Dunce Dungeon will have one more full-time guest. My students
are stationed along the road. For good or ill, we shall meet
again.”

Should you be intelligent enough to make it off the island
of Mediogre and onto the ship with the gold you have just
acquired, you realise pretty quickly that this is no ordinary
ship – it’s a pirate ship! There are five solemn
looking pirates on board and each and every one of them is
staring covetously at your gold. The captain explains your
options: "We want your gold, but the good news is we
are extremely intelligent, democratic pirates and you may
